The First Tee summer camp, located at the Harvey Penick Golf Campus in Austin, Texas, offers a unique program designed for children aged 5 to 17, focusing on golf skills and personal development. Each day is filled with engaging and fun golf activities, where campers are grouped according to their age and skill level. The camp is structured to promote a supportive learning environment that encourages kids to develop their golfing abilities while also acquiring essential life skills. Participants will benefit from a nationally recognized Life Skills curriculum that reinforces the values inherent in the game of golf.
Throughout the camp, children will actively engage in a variety of skill development activities aimed at enhancing their golfing techniques. Campers will practice on the short course, putting greens, and driving range, where they will be introduced to various drills and competitions. Fun games such as Tic Tac Toe (golf version), Knockout, and Footgolf are integrated into the schedule, making the learning process enjoyable and interactive. Full-day campers will also have the opportunity to play on a 9-hole PGA Tour-designed course, allowing them to apply their skills in a real-game environment. This hands-on experience not only improves their technical abilities but also helps them learn the nuances of scoring and strategy in golf.
Beyond the technical aspects of the game, the First Tee camp places a strong emphasis on core values and life skills. Campers will learn about honesty, respect, sportsmanship, and responsibility, which are vital both in golf and in life. The program is designed to teach kids how to make healthy choices, manage their emotions, and develop interpersonal skills.
